As a college student I can't afford to do anything fancy, but I'm wondering if anyone has had experience cosplaying and would be willing to share some helpful information. Specifically I'm thinking of either going as the 10th Doctor or Dave Strider (leaning towards 10 just because I figure there will be a LOT of Homestuckers). I've been told thrift stores are a great place to find things like the Doctor's suit, but if you guys have any other suggestions/advice, throw em out there! This would be my first time cosplaying, so I'm definitely no expert

I've already got 10's screwdriver, Dave's shirt, and possibly the right hair for 10, so that's why I'm mainly considering those 2. Plus I figure I can re-use at least 10's clothing items (I DO need new shoes, and that IS a nice suit) But if it gets a little too expensive, that might change, so feel free to suggest other characters if you think I can pull em off (and if you have seen pictures of me)!

Also if anyone HAS cosplayed as 10 or Dave, it would help to know how much it cost just so I can get a good idea of whether I can afford to cosplay or not.
